Thunderbolt 375 at IRTRA

IRTRA, Mundo Petapa asked for a high-thrill marketable coaster. We worked with them to create a custom layout using the Thunderbolt ride platform. It featured a vertical lift, a near-vertical drop and three inversions.

The iconic combination of the vertical lift and large clothoid loop made the Thunderbolt a marketing powerhouse for the park. IRTRA, Mundo Petapa leveraged the coaster’s unique contours as the centerpiece of their 2019 marketing campaign. The ride opened in December, 2019 and was an instant hit. Sadly it ran for only a few months before COVID forced the park to close. However, once the property re-opened this coaster was one of the park’s most popular attractions and a key reason the property bounced back.

The Thunderbolt system was updated to our Lightning Coaster.

“This roller coaster is state-of-the-art, with cutting-edge technology and the highest safety standards. It was acquired from the company Antonio Zamperla SPA from Italy, a very prestigious company that has manufactured for many parks in the world, some of the main ones. It is the first roller coaster of this type to be installed in Latin America, so we have that first for Guatemalans.”
